Christopher A. Troutt began with the City Attorney’s Office in June 2011. The majority of his work involves representing the City in a variety of employment-related matters, including discrimination, retaliation, and whistleblower lawsuits and civil service and disciplinary appeals. He also assists department managers and Human Resources personnel with day-to-day employment issues, such as investigating allegations of employee misconduct, and the interpretation and application of the City’s personnel rules and federal and state employment laws. He also serves as the legal advisor for the labor contract negotiations between the City and the labor organizations that represent the City’s police officers and fire fighters.

Prior Experience

After graduating from law school, Mr. Troutt served as a briefing attorney for the Eighth District Court of Appeals in El Paso. He began his private law practice in Fort Worth and has practiced in Tarrant County for more than 30 years. He has focused his practice in labor and employment law, representing both employers and employees, but has also practiced law in several different areas, including personal injury, business litigation, construction and real estate law. In that practice, he has represented governmental entities, including independent school districts and water districts, businesses and individuals in a wide variety of litigation matters in state and federal courts. Most recently, Mr. Troutt was a trial attorney with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
