Bringing the music to the people!

Fort Worth is the birthplace of Western Swing music, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that the sounds of the city continue to reverberate in new and exciting ways. The Library coordinates Amplify 817, a program supported by Hear Fort Worth and the Fort Worth Public Library Foundation to highlight Fort Worth-based musicians and their work, supporting them as small business owners. A curated collection of Fort Worth music is available for anyone to stream for free and commercial-free on amplify817.org.

But wait, there is much, much more to listen to and explore!

For young children, the Library offers Music and Movement, regular programs that inspire movement through songs and fun activities. For all ages, the Library plays host to regular concerts and musically themed events.

Responding to our community's needs

From our conversational English as a Second Language classes to our High School Equivalency test-preparation courses, the Fort Worth Public Library strives to offer relevant programs for Fort Worth’s Spanish-speaking community. For families, regular Spanish or bilingual story times are fun events that encourage children to read. Our Kindergarten Prep 101, offered in Spanish, helps prepare parents for their child’s first day of school.

Adult ESL Programs

Recently featured on Telemundo 39, we launched our first in-person English as a Second Language program at Diamond Hill/Jarvis with plans for expansion. Adult ESL programs are also offered virtually every week.

Free High School Equivalency Classes in Spanish
