How we hire

We want to work with you during your interview and the hiring process to make sure that we have the best fit possible for long-term success. 

We practice behavioral interviewing including panel interviews with potential peers and managers. For many professional positions, candidates may be asked to:

  • develop sample content
  • give a presentation
  • provide portfolio samples of their work

Library Branch Positions

Customer Service Positions

Customer Service Rep II

Provides customer service at circulation desk and has responsibility for cash handling, reconciliation and deposits for their branch (Requires High School Diploma / GED).

 

Customer Service Rep I

Provides customer service at the circulation desk. Responsible for checking items in and out, cash handling and answering general customer questions (Requires High School Diploma / GED).

 

Library Page

Shelves library materials, conducts shelf reading to make sure that materials are in proper order and provides general customer service (Requires High School Diploma / GED).

 

Programming Positions

Librarians

Provides programs for the public in branch libraries, answers reference questions, assists customers with computers and databases (Requires Master's of Library Sciences).

 

Library Assistants

Provides programs for the public in branch libraries, provides general customer service (Requires Bachelor's Degree).

 

Public Education Specialists

Provide structured programming for library customers. May also provide virtual programming (Requires Bachelor's Degree).

 

Management Positions

Customer Service Supervisor

Provides direct supervision of staff in assigned locations and indirect supervision/support of staff within assigned region. Assists in training customer service staff. Responsible for cash handling, reconciliation and deposits (Requires High School Diploma / GED).

 

Branch Manager

Provides direct supervision of branch staff. Develops/provides programming and outreach plans for branch. Motivates staff to provide an exceptional customer experience (Requires Master's Degree).
