Come learn, dream and do with us in a variety of cultural and creative programs offered throughout Fort Worth.

Your Fort Worth Public Library is excited to offer more than 300 programs to patrons this winter.  How will you experience your library? 

Do you want to learn how to play mancala or mahjong?  Perhaps you'd rather create folk ornaments or paint a snowflake masterpiece.  Explore all your options below and many more in our event calendar


Ornaments from Around the World

Around the world, people decorate their homes during the winter holiday seasons. Come to the Fort Worth Public Library to make your own winter ornament from cultures all over the globe.  

MLK Day: Self Portraits

Create your own Martin Luther King inspired self-portrait. Take one portrait home and leave a portrait at the library to contribute to the library display of diverse self-portraits.

Lunar New Year: Lion Dancer

Many Asian countries around the globe celebrate the Lunar New Year with a good luck creature called a lion dancer. Come join the Fort Worth Public Library to contribute making a life size display of a lion dancer to bring in good fortune. Red envelopes will also be provided for children to write good wishes and design their own red and gold designs.

Photo Snow Globes

Make a fun and unique snow globe using a photo of a special person, pet, or place. Bring a printed photo that can be cut out and laminated, and the Library will supply everything else for this adult, in-person class. 


Folk Ornaments

Around the world, people decorate their homes during the winter/rainy seasons. Each of these crafts have a folktale and origin story related to the winter season. Come to the Fort Worth Library to make your own winter ornament from cultures all over the globe.  


Snowflake Canvas

Celebrate winter by painting your own glittery snowflake masterpiece. All supplies will be provided for this adult, in-person class.

Black History Month - Mancala

Mancala game

Join us for a game of Mancala! Mancala is a game that first appeared in Africa and later spread to the near east. Versions of the game date back to the 7th century in ancient Africa.


Lunar New Year - Mahjong
