The Weatherization Assistance Program provides services to improve the energy efficiency of income-eligible households in Tarrant County. Weatherization program technicians perform an energy assessment to determine which energy saving repair or service is most appropriate and cost-effective for each home.

Weatherization Program Benefits

Energy Efficiency Upgrades:  Weatherization programs typically provide a range of upgrades to homes, such as adding insulation, sealing air leaks, and installing energy-efficient windows and doors. These measures help to reduce the amount of energy needed to heat or cool the home, leading to lower utility bills.

Cost Savings: By making homes more energy efficient, weatherization programs help residents save money on their energy bills over the long term. The upfront cost of weatherization is often subsidized or covered entirely by the program, making it an attractive option for residents who may not have the financial means to invest in energy efficiency upgrades themselves.

Improved Comfort: Proper insulation and air sealing help to maintain more consistent temperatures throughout the home, reducing drafts and cold spots in the winter and keeping the home cooler in the summer. This leads to increased comfort for residents, regardless of the weather outside.

Health Benefits: Weatherization programs can also improve indoor air quality by sealing out pollutants and allergens from the outside. This is particularly important for residents with respiratory conditions or allergies, as it can help to reduce symptoms and improve overall health.

Environmental Impact: By reducing energy consumption, weatherization programs help to lower greenhouse gas emissions and lessen the environmental impact associated with energy production. This benefits not only individual residents but also the broader community and the planet as a whole.
