Following the adoption of the Six Points Urban Village Master Plan and a subsequent community design charrette, the City of Fort Worth partnered with the area’s stakeholders, including property and business owners, to implement key plan recommendations that included Urban Village expansion with Mixed-Use and Urban Residential zoning, significant capital improvements, and incentives to create the conditions to facilitate revitalization and redevelopment in the Six Points Urban Village.

Utilizing local and federal funds, Race Street received a Complete Streets retrofit that includes bike lanes, wide sidewalks, enhanced crosswalks and bulb-outs, reverse-angle parking, protected bike lanes, street trees and landscaping, decorative pedestrian lighting, street furniture and trash receptacles, and public art.  Race Street is now a fully complete street, and an outstanding example of a pedestrian-oriented, small business-friendly street that is safer for all users.

These actions and investments helped to catalyze significant redevelopment in the Six Points Urban Village.  Today, Six Points Urban Village is home to significant new mixed-use and multifamily residential developments that provide a range of new housing choices in a walkable urban context.  Older commercial storefronts along Race Street have been renovated for a new generation of eclectic restaurants, offices, services, and arts-focused retail shops, all of which contribute to the growing vitality and uniqueness of the Six Points Urban Village.
