Under the curfew, minors under the age of 17 are generally not allowed in Fort Worth public places from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 12:01 a.m. to 6 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Police issued 120 curfew citations in the last three years. Violations carry a fine up to $500 for the minor, or a parent or guardian who allows the teen to violate the curfew ordinance.

Fort Worth instituted the ordinance in 1994. State law requires a review and public input every three years if City Council intends on renewing the ordinance. The Fort Worth Police Department wants the City’s teen curfew ordinance to continue, saying the curfew is a good tool to address juvenile-related issues. Research has shown that curfews reduce juvenile arrests and young people becoming crime victims.
