As the nation copes with the COVID-19 pandemic, business closures, social distancing and changes in everyday schedules are disrupting just about every aspect of ordinary life — and exercise routines are no exception.

Although it might be tempting to skip your workout during these challenging times, public health officials say that exercise — while undoubtedly crucial under normal circumstances — is essential to your physical health and mental well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fort Worth’s fitness centers have been open at local community centers since June 1. A variety of strength, cardio and free-weight equipment will help accomplish your fitness goals.

Fitness centers are available during community center operating hours. For specific center locations and hours, contact your preferred center.

Safety measures are in place at all centers and include temperature checks, screening questions, face masks, equipment spaced at least 6 feet apart and increased sanitization protocols.

Fitness equipment varies by location within three tiers: Gold, Silver and Bronze:

  • Gold Tier fitness rooms are large, high-tech and filled with multiple pieces of cardio and weight-training equipment. A Gold Tier fitness membership includes the price of an annual community center membership and allows the customer access to all tiers of fitness rooms. Gold fitness rooms are located at Chisholm Trail, Handley Meadowbrook and Victory Forest community centers. Monthly Gold Tier rates range from a low of $19 for a youth membership to $52 for a family residing in Fort Worth.
  • Silver Tier fitness membership includes the price of an annual community center membership and allows the customer access to both Silver and Bronze Tier fitness rooms. Silver fitness rooms are located at Eugene McCray, Greenbriar, Highland Hills and Hillside community centers. Monthly Silver Tier rates range from a low of $11 for a youth membership to $30 for a family residing in Fort Worth.
  • Bronze Tier fitness membership includes the price of an annual community center membership and does not allow the customer access to Gold or Silver Tier fitness rooms. Bronze fitness rooms are located at Como, Fire Station, R.D. Evans, Riverside, Southwest, Sycamore and Thomas Place community centers. Monthly Bronze Tier rates range from a low of $7 for a youth membership to $20 for a family residing in Fort Worth.
