Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price joined 152 mayors in 36 states to observe COVID-19 Victims and Survivors Memorial Day on March 1.

Price presented a proclamation on Tuesday evening to Fire Chief James Davis, Police Chief Neil Noakes and Code Compliance Director Brandon Bennett.

“One year ago, we began a citywide response to the pandemic, and I am proud of the way city staff stepped up with leadership and compassion,” Price said. “It is a somber milestone that we are passing, and we absolutely must not forget that in this country 500,000 lives have been taken away too early and hundreds of thousands more have been impacted by the illness, including many in our own communities.”

The memorial event was sponsored by the U.S. Conference of Mayors and Marked by COVID.
