Pay Range: $34.45 to $44.79/hour

Pay Range: $71,661.73 - $93,159/annually

A Librarian Supervisor position is available at the Ridglea Library of the Fort Worth Public Library. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, enthusiastic about bringing library services to people in the community, and comfortable working with diverse populations including people of all ages, backgrounds, dispositions, and abilities. Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree from an ALA accredited college or university with major course work in library and information sciences.
  • Four years of professional library experience, including two years of lead responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Ability to communicate with customers in Spanish.
  • Knowledge of management principles and practices including goal setting, budget development/implementation, and staff development and motivation.
  • Knowledge of modern professional library principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Skill in using exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills that build and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Skill in hiring, motivating, developing, and directing staff in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to work at/travel to various locations.

The Supervisors job responsibilities include: 

  • Planning, organizing, and directing the day-to-day operations and staff of a branch library to ensure efficient and effective public service.
  • Providing excellent customer service, including answering questions and helping customers locate materials and services of interest.
  • Interpreting policy and procedures and resolving daily operational and customer issues.
  • Ensuring that the location is well-ordered, appealing, and inviting; Manages the location’s overall collection, including promotion, maintenance, and weeding.
  • Supervising staff, including planning and assigning work, performance management, scheduling, addressing complaints and resolving problems; training staff on basic job functions.
  • Planning, implementing, and evaluating local outreach programs and services in conjunction with staff.
  • Evaluates/assesses Library standards and services at location.
  • Assisting customers with basic computer needs and emerging technologies.

Working Conditions and Physical Demand

While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch, and lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
