The City of Fort Worth is kicking off fiscal year 2023 with an anti-litter campaign called Litter: Stop It! Report It! Pick It Up!

The campaign focuses on ways to STOP litter at its source, how to REPORT any litter violations seen across the city, and the various ways to PICK IT UP.

“Our community is working together to create a cleaner, safer city, and we’re laser-focused on working together to make that a reality,” said Brandon Bennett, director of the Code Compliance Department.

Litter is everyone’s job, and it takes everyone in the community coming together to clean the city and keep it clean. Here are the ways you can do your part to Stop It! Report It! Pick It Up!

Stop it!

Controlling litter sources is absolutely the best option; essentially stopping litter before it starts. Here are some simple ways you can help stop litter:

  • Ensure garbage is bagged properly before putting it in carts or dumpsters. Be sure bags are securely fastened and that lids and enclosures are closed completely.
  • Ensure yard trimmings and bulk items are properly placed at the curb on the correct day for collection.
  • Properly secure loads with tarps or covers when transporting loose items in the back of a truck.
  • Keep trash cans and other critical areas free of litter – pay close attention to areas like loading docks, construction sites, parking lots, commercial areas and common areas.
  • Use one of the four drop-off stations and the Environmental Collection Center.

Report it!

When you see litter, report it. Help address litter on private property, along city streets, along state and federal highways and in public areas.

  • Download the MyFW app to report litter and any other violations.
  • Do you prefer to speak with someone on the phone? Contact the City Call Center at 817-392-1234.
  • Still having issues and need direct support? Email Keep Fort Worth Beautiful.

Pick it up!

Litter must be picked up, and new resources are planned this year to help with active litter collection. Do your part to pick up litter around your home, at work, at school and throughout the community.

  • Anyone can join a citywide cleanup. The next citywide event is the 2022 Neighborhood Litter Stomp on Oct. 15, and registration is now open. This is a great opportunity to engage neighbors – especially young people – to celebrate neighborhood pride and honor community service. There are designated areas of cleanup, but participants choose the area to clean up – it can be a neighborhood, the park down the street, a greenbelt, a school campus or any public area in Fort Worth. Last year, 1,500 volunteers removed more than 35,000 pounds of litter from Fort Worth. Every registered group or individual will be provided trash bags, gloves and event T-shirts. It’s first come, first served, while supplies last.
  • Individuals or groups can organize cleanups any day of the year. Free supplies are available to everyone. Contact KFWB or visit the KFWB website to fill out a request form.

  • Want to get students or student groups involved? All schools (public, private, at-home), student groups and after-school programs can consider creating or engaging with a school green team.
  • Individuals, schools, business and civic or nonprofit groups may want to Adopt-A-Spot. Pick up litter in your own part of the city and make it beautiful. Register today.
  • Advocates against litter can promote cleanup activities. Use social media, word of mouth and more to get your network excited about joining the charge to fight litter.
