If you have little ones at home, you might be familiar with the popular, kid-approved Babymouse book series.

The Fort Worth Public Library is excited to invite children and their parents to a children’s author series event featuring Jennifer L. Holm, author of the award-winning Babymouse series, bestselling Sunny series and the Squish series.

The free event will begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, at the Reby Cary Youth Library.

Holm will discuss her books, inspirations and answer questions from the audience. After the presentation, guests will have an opportunity to get photos with the author as well as purchase signed copies of her books.

Holm is a New York Times-bestselling children's author and the recipient of three Newbery Honors for her novels Our Only May Amelia, Penny from Heaven, and Turtle in Paradise. Holm collaborates with her brother, Matthew Holm, on several graphic novel series, including the Eisner Award-winning Babymouse series, the bestselling Sunny series and the Squish series, which is now a streaming show on HBO MAX. Her new novel is The Lion of Mars. She lives in California with her husband, two children and two bossy cats named Augustus and Livvie (after the Roman Emperor and Empress.)

This event is a part of the Library’s annual children's author series, funded by the Fort Worth Public Library Foundation.

For the teens

Parents and guardians of teenagers can check out another upcoming children’s author event intended for teens (grades 6-8) on Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Central Library with Dr. Victor Evans, author of the juvenile fiction book The Case of the Missing Bat.

Evans is an assistant professor of communication at Seattle University, where he teaches journalism and other mass media courses. He has created numerous documentaries focusing on the analysis of LGBTQ images in the media. The first book in his middle-grade LGBTQ Evan Sinclair Mysteries series was published in December 2021. He is currently working on the second installment. Prior to teaching, he worked as an entertainment journalist for numerous media organizations, including Entertainment Weekly, MTV, BET and CNN.
