P.A.W.S. and Think is a new educational program designed to teach children the values and responsibilities of pet ownership. By reaching students early, this program aims to plant the seeds of compassion, responsibility, and care for animals, helping to nurture values that will grow with them into adulthood.

School Visit

Through school visits across the Fort Worth area, FWACC staff present engaging lessons on:

  • What it means to be a responsible pet owner
  • How to prepare for and care for adopted shelter pets
  • The everyday needs of animals
  • The importance of spaying and neutering
  • And more topics that encourage empathy and understanding

Student Engagement

After the educational presentation, students get a special opportunity to interact with puppies and kittens from our shelters. These hands-on sessions teach kids how to gently and confidently handle small animals, helping reduce fear and promote kindness.

To keep the learning going, each student receives a FWACC goodie bag that includes a custom coloring book and crayons. These fun tools reinforce responsible pet care at home.

Ultimately, P.A.W.S. and Think aims to create a more humane future by educating the next generation, reducing the number of abandoned and stray animals in our community.
