About Elephant and Piggie
Elephant (whose name is Elephant Gerald named after Ella Fitzgerald) and Piggie (who has no other name) are characters from a popular book series from author and illustrator Mo Willems. Elephant Gerald is careful. His best friend Piggie is not. Gerald worries so that Piggie does not have to.
Written for early readers ages 4-8, Elephant and Piggie are featured in 25 books that focus on aspects of growing up such as understanding emotions and developing friendships. The New York Times-bestselling series has won two Theodor Seuss Geisel Awards and five Geisel Honors.

About Mo Willems
Mo Willems is an author, illustrator, animator and playwright. He began his career as a writer and animator on PBS’ Sesame Street, where he won six Emmy Awards for writing. Among his many achievements, Willems served as the first Kennedy Center Education Artist-in-Residence from 2019 to 2022.
