Kellis Park was a gift of developers J. S. Foster & Sons and borders an addition of the same name. The initial 14.5-acre site was located on slightly rolling terrain south and east of Old Granbury Road and bounded by Boyce, Trail Lake Drive, and Kellis Park Drive. In exchange for the acceptance of the land for park use in 1950, the park board agreed to pay the expense of adjacent street improvements. Early improvements were to include a tennis court, children’s playground, and a baseball diamond. A study of the park prepared by Hare and Hare also called for the construction of a shelter house. In 1960, Kellis was one of four parks to receive swimming pools. The engineer for the project was Robin Llewellyn. The landscape architect was the firm of Carter and Burgess. Currently, the park contains playground space, tennis courts, and outdoor grills. In 2006-07, its playground received renovations performed under the Park & Recreation Department's Small Capital Projects Crew Work Plan.
