Work on the city’s budget for fiscal year 2026 is underway! Each year, this process helps us plan how to use public dollars to support city services, programs and projects that matter to our community.
FWLab staff will share updates at City Council work sessions from April through August. These meetings are a chance for the City Council and the community to learn more about what’s shaping the budget.
In August, the city manager will share a recommended budget with the City Council. Then in September, the council will vote on the final budget and tax rate for the upcoming year. The new fiscal year starts Oct. 1, 2025.
Stay tuned for updates throughout the process!
Recommended Budget & Tax Rates
On August 12, City Manager Jay Chapa presented the recommended 2026 budget to the City Council.
Download a copy of the FY26 Recommended Budget:
A property tax rate of $0.6700 per $100 of assessed value has been recommended to the City of Fort Worth governing body. This is above the no-new-revenue rate of $0.659126, which is the tax rate that would produce the same amount of tax revenue if applied to the same properties that are taxed in both years.
Community Engagement
Budget meetings will be held in all Council Districts in August and September. Meetings will be in-person and will also be available live on the City of Fort Worth YouTube channel and on the City's TV website at fortworthtexas.gov/FWTV. The meetings will feature a video about the budget, a short presentation, and Q&A. Questions and comments can be submitted before and during the meeting at ConnectFW.
