SmartWater Assessment Program

This program evaluates water end use and provides recommendations to reduce consumption and costs. The assessment covers water use from irrigation, cooling towers, metering, process water, laundries, rinsing, kitchen, outdoor fountains and more.

Reduce water use, recycle where possible and realize greater water efficiency with a SmartWater Assessment. Assessments are free for Industrial, Commercial or Institutional customers and provide recommendations to help you make smart business decisions while refining processes, retrofitting or reviewing emerging technologies.

Our consultant, Alan Plummer Associates Inc. (APAI), who has been dedicated to water resources and environmental engineering for more than 30 years, conducts the assessments.

What to Expect

APAI will contact you to obtain general information needed for the preliminary assessment. This may include facility demographics (number of staff, visitors, cafeteria hours, etc.), plans, lot size, irrigation areas or schematics of process flows.

If you are a larger industry, there will be a kick-off meeting to introduce you to the program and cover expectations. After the kick off, APAI will conduct the evaluative facility walk-through while discussing water uses, conservation ideas, efforts and future plans. Depending on the size of your property, multiple days may be necessary to complete the assessment.

Evaluation and audit

A comprehensive summary of the site assessment will be provided in a follow-up meeting. During this meeting, current water uses, potential water efficiency measures with expected savings, implementation costs and return on investment will be discussed. Recommendations are based on best management practices and can become a compass to refine and enhance the water efficiency of your facility.
