An Account Technician job is available with the City of Fort Worth Environmental Services / Business Services Division).  This position is responsible for supporting a wide variety of complex administrative and fiscal tasks that support office and customer service operations, including special project activities for the division. The ability to provide exceptional customer service and being outcome oriented is necessary. This position will work in a customer-focused, diverse, and team-oriented work environment. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, proficient in computer skills and data entry, and possess strong interpersonal abilities to effectively engage with customers, contractors, and community members.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates degree from an accredited college or university, with major course work in accounting, finance or related field
  • One (1) year of directly related technical accounting experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of municipal or local government experience
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Familiarity with City of Fort Worth financial systems and processes.
  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong background in customer service and administrative support.
  • Complex clerical and routine administrative experience.

The Account Technician job responsibilities include:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Audit sanitation services in the billing system to ensure accuracy.
  • Issue work orders for prompt verification of residential and commercial sanitation carts by the investigation team.
  • Manage special projects related to customer accounts, sanitation service data, and custom reporting.
  • Oversee fiscal activities, including monitoring purchase orders and invoices for supplies and materials.
  • Execute Accounts Payable functions, leveraging expertise in city procurement processes and administrative regulations.
  • Advise and support management on contract compliance.
  • Provide accurate information and guidance to supervisory staff, employees, and the public regarding departmental activities, programs, policies, and procedures, conducting thorough follow-up research as needed.
  • Provide critical financial support to daily Solid Waste operations, processing transactions and maintaining City databases.
  • Reconciliation of contracted vendors to verify accuracy and completeness of financial billing related to the contract and ensure that payments are made correctly.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Physical Demands
