Workdays & Hours: Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm; This location operates 24 hours a day and 365 days per year. You must be willing and able to work in an on-call capacity, in partnership with the Airport Operations Officers. This work shift consists of variable hours including weekends, holidays, and overnights, as needed.

A Sr. Airport Operations Officer position is available with the City of Fort Worth Aviation Department’s Meacham International Airport.  This position is Full-Time and is responsible for performing duties to ensure airport compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

The City of Fort Worth Aviation system is home to three world-class airports - Meacham International, Spinks Airport and Perot Field.  Both Meacham International and Spinks Airports provide regional aviation services for air charter, corporate, business and recreational flyers.  Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport provides cargo carrier services.  The airports feature full-service fuelers, multiple maintenance facilities, flight schools, on-site rental car facilities, and hotel facilities only minutes away.  The City of Fort Worth Aviation Department is essential to the economic well-being and commerce taking place in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Associate Degree from an accredited college with major course work in Public Administration, Aviation Management, or related field.
  • Two (2) years of work experience that includes airport operations and/or maintenance.
  • Successful completion of Airport Operations Officer training within the initial six-month (6) probationary period.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years airfield management experience.
  • Candidate with a Bachelor’s Degree and a Pilot’s License.

The Sr. Airport Operations Officer job responsibilities include: 

  • Lead and oversee staff, which includes ensuring training compliance for Airport Operations Officers and Maintenance personnel; ensuring employees follow policies and procedures; and maintaining a healthy and safe working environment.
  • Oversees and evaluates the day-to-day activities of airside and landside operations at the City of Fort Worth airports to ensure compliance with lease provisions, policies and procedures, and other governing regulations; Performs all essential duties and responsibilities of an Airport Operations Officer.
  • Assists in the development of airport access system procedures, departmental budget and operational reports. Provides general administrative support to Airport Operations Manager.
  • Assists in the management, design and provision of training in the use of the automated system (Veoci) and provides first level technical support to department personnel.
  • Assist with the management of department/division assets by creating an inventory of assets; generating reports of assets assigned to each division; maintaining asset management database or records; and ensuring assets are accounted for, inventoried and tagged in accordance with standard operating policies and procedures.
  • Maintains hard copy and digital filing system for US Customs User Fee and USDA Regulated Garbage handling fees.
  • Assists in planning large public events, including fly-ins and conventions. Assist in the coordination of events with airfield tenants, general public, vendors and other City departments.

  • Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions.
  • Medium work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
