Workdays & Hours:
- The Public Events Department operates 3 shifts, 24 hours a day. Applicants for this position must be willing to work a non-traditional flexible schedule that coincides with the events held at the facilities.
- Must also be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays and have scheduled days off on days other than Saturday and Sunday.

The position at Will Rogers Memorial Center qualifies for the following incentive which is separate from the base pay:
***$2,000 Sign-On Incentive: 50% paid after the completion of first pay period, 50% paid after the completion of 6 months of employment***
Two (2) Skilled Trades Tech I – Facilities Maintenance jobs are available with the City of Fort Worth Public Events Department at the Fort Worth Convention Center and Will Rogers Memorial Center.
The Public Events Department operates the Fort Worth Convention Center (FWCC), the Will Rogers Memorial Center (WRMC), and the Office of Outdoor Events. The departments mission is through entrepreneurial management of “Best in Class” venues, and in collaboration with our community partners, our customer-focused team provides clients and guests with memorable Fort Worth hospitality that contributes to prosperity in our community
One (1) of the current available positions is assigned to the Will Rogers Memorial Center and one (1) position is assigned to the Fort Worth Convention Center. Public Events Department employees are sometimes subject to reassignment based on workload and/or the needs of the City or the Department. This reassignment may involve relocation to the Fort Worth Convention Center, Will Rogers Memorial Center or another City facility.
The Skilled Trades Technician 1- Facilities Maintenance plays an important role in making sure that all equipment and material is maintained in the building so that events can run smoothly.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training in assigned trade
- Two (2) years of related skilled trades experience.
- Valid Texas Class C Driver’s License
- Must pass drug screen and background check
- Experience in general building maintenance & repairs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Licensed Plumber or Commercial Plumbing Experience
- Forklift Certified and/or Scissor / Boom lift Certified
- Experience with Welding (Stick, MIG, Oxy-Acetylene)
- Experience in Carpentry
- Paint & Drywall Experience
- Locksmithing skills (cutting keys, re-keying locks and cylinders)
- 2 years’ experience in HVAC and Building Maintenance Repairs
The job responsibilities include:
- Performing general maintenance/repair of the facility including plumbing, painting, drywall repair, roofing, welding, fabrication, carpentry, commercial doors (walk-through and overhead).
- Replacing ceiling tiles, floor tiles (ceramic, VCT, vinyl, etc.)
- Other general maintenance repairs/replacements upon request.
Working Conditions and Physical Demand:
Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling, lifting, depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.
Heavy Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects
