On Oct. 1, Fort Worth’s Alley Maintenance Program management responsibilities are transferring to the Park & Recreation Department.

The Neighborhood Services Department had managed the program since October 2016.

“Park & Recreation currently oversees contract mowing for parks, medians and right of ways, so moving Alley Maintenance Program responsibilities over makes sense logistically since the contractors maintaining alleys are currently the same contractors that are mowing other public property managed by PARD,” said Debbie Branch, district superintendent for Park & Recreation.

The Alley Maintenance Program will continue to be managed in the same manner as in the past, with the 1,234 alleys that fall under the program being mowed about once a quarter by contractors.

The Alley Maintenance Program includes approximately half of Fort Worth’s unpaved alleys identified in collaboration with Fort Worth Police as areas needed to help mitigate crime and encourage safe neighborhoods.

Report requests and concerns via the MyFW app available for Apple and Android users. Alley concerns are currently listed under Neighborhood Services in the app.
