Next date: Saturday, June 22, 2024 | 02:00 PM to 03:00 PM

exterior of Fort Worth History Center

Commemorate Juneteenth by searching the Freedman's Bank Records. Between 1865 and 1874, the Freedman's Bank (formerly known as the Freedmans' Savings and Trust Company), served those who were formerly enslaved.

These records provide a wealth of genealogical information that can be helpful in finding African-American ancestors. Information may include the name of depositor, date of entry, birthplace, place where they were raised, age, names of family members and more.

Get tips on how to effectively search the records during the program.

As a destination for discovery, your Fort Worth Public Library is a location for learners of any age. We designed this program for adults.
