Proper Disposal of Fireworks
The Fort Worth Fire Department and Fort Worth Police Department remind residents that celebrating with fireworks is not only dangerous, but illegal in our city. Celebratory firearm discharge is illegal, but also potentially dangerous to human life and property.
To report illegal fireworks in Fort Worth and to continue to provide the quickest response possible to emergency calls, officials ask that residents use these nonemergency methods to report fireworks:
Please do not call 9-1-1 to report illegal fireworks.
If you have been injured, are reporting a fire or experiencing some other emergency, please call 9-1-1.
Fireworks are illegal in the City of Fort Worth. By ordinance the possession, manufacture, storage, sale, handling and use of fireworks are prohibited (Section 3301.1.3).
Wildfires, structure fires and personal injury are common results of illegal fireworks use, and storage of explosive items increases risk to occupants of a building and firefighters during any structure fire.
To protect your community, home and family, don’t keep illegal fireworks in your home.
To dispose of fireworks, contact the Fire Department at 817-392-6850 or email FWFire@fortworthtexas.gov to schedule a drop off or arrange a pick up.
Do not put them in your garbage or recycling bins, and do not take them to the Environmental Collection Center or a Fort Worth Solid Waste Drop-off Station.
