Street & Transportation Improvements

This large City project is comprehensive and involves major improvements along Trinity Boulevard.

Phase 1 - from Loop 820 to Salado Trail.

This section of roadway will be reconstructed as a four-lane, divided concrete arterial. This project includes a landscaped median, multi-use trails on each side of the roadway and drainage system improvements.

A roundabout will be constructed at the entrance to the Trinity Lakes Development and a traffic signal will be reconstructed at the Salado Trail intersection. After project completion, Trinity Boulevard will no longer be in a floodplain.

Phase 2 - from Salado Trail to Thames Trail.

A four-lane, divided concrete arterial is planned for this section of Trinity Boulevard. A landscaped median, multi-use trails on each side of the road, drainage improvements and water and sewer lines will be constructed.

This project is in Council District 5.

January 2026 Project Update

Phase 1:

  • The contractor was able to open the project to four lanes of traffic from IH 820 to Riverlakes. The temporary stop signs will remain in place until the illumination is turned on.

  • There is a franchise utility relocation near Salado Trail that is preventing the contractor from finishing the work near Salado Trail. Expect to see the contractor finishing the remaining sidewalk, illumination, traffic signal, irrigation, and landscaping work in February 2026.

Phase 2:

  • The contractor has completed the north half of the pavement, and the project is now open to two-way traffic on the North Side.

  • The contractor will be working on storm drains, inlets, and utility adjustments on the south side through February 2026. When all utility work is complete, the contractor will begin grading and paving the south side. Expect to see paving activities through May 2026.
