Beck School of Construction

The Beck School of Construction is a partnership between the City of Fort Worth and The Beck Group, a local integrated architecture and construction firm. The program provides comprehensive training sessions to help certified businesses increase their industry knowledge, grow their expertise, and become more competitive when bidding on construction projects.

The Beck School of Construction began in 2019, with a goal of mentoring local businesses in the construction industry to better help them grow and scale. By 2020, graduates of the program had already been awarded $14.28 million in contracts.

 

Eligibility and class information

In order to be eligible to participate in the Beck School of Construction, businesses must meet the following requirements:

  • Provide construction services or construction-related services.
    • Examples of "construction-related services" might include demolition, professional painting, flooring, roofing, landscaping, etc.
  • Have been in business for at least two years.
  • Have a minimum annual revenue of $75,000.
  • Be located within the five-county marketplace of Tarrant, Wise, Johnson, Parker and Denton counties.
  • Have a Small Business Enterprise (SBE) certification, or be in the process of obtaining one.

 

Class information

The Beck School of Construction is a nine-month program that meets from 2-4:30 p.m. every fourth Tuesday afternoon from January to October, with a summer break in July. Applications for the program open annually in December and close in January, while classes begin in February.
