May 2025 Project Update

Flashing of the Traffic Signal at the intersection started on Thursday, May 29, 2025.

The following are the reasons why we put new traffic signals in flashing mode of operation prior to doing the actual activation.

  • Traffic signals are put into a flashing mode of operation (typically flashing red color) to provide drivers an advance notice about the upcoming change in traffic control at the intersection.
  • The flashing period helps drivers get acclimated to the new traffic patterns, especially when a new traffic signal is introduced OR there is change from Stop sign control to signal control at an intersection
  • Typically the intersection will stay in flashing mode of operation for 4-5 days so that drivers get acclimated to the new traffic signal.
  • The flashing mode also helps the contractor or operations staff troubleshoot any issues with the signal before putting into operation.
