Program List
Bike Safety — This photo display and word matching game teaches bicycle safety rules. It’s adaptable to different grade levels and covers helmets, hand signals, riding in traffic and other rules of the road. (K-5th)
Captain Crud & the Buddies — Younger students watch a five-minute animated story about litter and recycling. 4th and 5th grade students review environmental vocabulary. Both groups participate in a game to identify natural resources (trees, oil, rocks) and some of the useful products they provide (paper, plastic bottles, cans and more). (K-5th)
Captain Crud and the Cruddies — This animated storm water education program teaches younger students about storm drains and water pollution as well as safety around household cleansers and other chemicals. (K-3rd)
What’s Wrong With This Picture? — Similar to the above program, this exercise teaches older students and even adults how everyday activities can contribute to water pollution. It also covers safety and proper disposal of unwanted household chemicals. (4-12th)
Care For Cowtown Air –– Younger students will learn that air is all around us, even though we can’t see it. All grade levels will be able to identify common activities that pollute our air, ways to protect their personal health and ways to prevent air pollution in our community. (K-5th)
Career Days — Adaptable to different grade levels, this presentation features typical and not-so-typical career opportunities with the City of Fort Worth. It includes sample questions and answers from real firefighters, crime lab technicians, animal caretakers, engineers and others about the kind of education needed for each career. (K-12th)
Freddie the Fish — Freddie and his friend Daphne the Duck live in a polluted section of the Trinity River. This hands-on presentation lets children see how our everyday activities contribute to pollution and identify ways to clean up Freddie and Daphne’s home. (K-5th)
My Government & Me — Younger students learn the purpose of community rules and the authority figures who enforce them. Older students learn the functions of government and how our leaders are chosen. Everyone sees why and how to practice good citizenship. Includes an interactive problem solving activity. K-5th
Journey of a Water Drop — Spin your way through the water cycle while collecting beads for a bookmark or bracelet. This game reinforces water cycle vocabulary and science concepts. (3-5th)
PAWS: Pets are Worth it! — Students learn how to take care of their pets, how to approach someone else’s pet, City of Fort Worth laws that apply to pet owners and what to do if you encounter an aggressive dog. (K-5th)
