Community Engagement Educational Programs

Career Days Adaptable to different grade levels, this presentation features typical and not-so-typical career opportunities with the City of Fort Worth. It includes a brief introduction about the City of Fort Worth, and students learn about different careers in the City from firefighters, crime lab technicians, animal caretakers, helicopter pilots, engineers, event planners, and more.

My Government & Me - Students are introduced to the idea of community rules and the people who help keep us safe and organized. Older students explore the roles of government, how leaders are chosen, and the importance of civic participation. All students gain an understanding of what it means to be a good citizen in their community.

Recycling & Sustainability Presentation - Students learn why recycling matters and how everyday choices can protect natural resources, reduce waste, and create a cleaner community. This interactive presentation introduces key recycling concepts in a way that's age-appropriate and easy to understand, while encouraging students to think about their role in caring for the environment. Presented on behalf of the City of Fort Worth Environmental Services Department by the Community Engagement team.

Stormwater & Pollution Prevention Presentation - Through the story of Freddie the Fish and his friend Daphne the Duck, students discover how everyday actions on land can affect the health of our rivers and creeks. The presentation highlights how pollutants can travel through storm drains into local waterways, and teaches the simple rule that “only rain belongs in the drain.” Students leave with a clear understanding of how they can help protect the Trinity River and keep our community’s water clean. Presented on behalf of the City of Fort Worth Transportation & Public Works Department: Stormwater Management by the Community Engagement team.
