Help your child learn to love books! The Fort Worth Public Library's 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program makes reading fun. We support you every step of the way as you read with your child.

Step 1: Start Reading

  • Every book counts toward the goal of 1,000 books.
  • This can be a book you read to your child, or one they read themselves.
  • Visit library story times. Find great books in our collection.
  • You can count a book every time you read it.
 

 Step 2: Track Your Reading

  • Register online using the Beanstack app.
  • Or, stop by any Fort Worth library to get a tracking booklet.
  • Reading just one book a day equals 365 books in one year.
  • At this pace, your child will read 1,000 books in about three years.
  • Reading more than one book a day helps them finish faster!
 

 Step 3: Celebrate Success

  • When your child reaches a reading milestone, we celebrate their great work.
  • Come to the library for special prizes.
  • Your child will be much more ready to start school.
  • Being prepared for school is the best prize of all!
