What’s open and closed for the Christmas holiday?

Most city offices, including City Hall, will be closed Monday, Dec. 26, for the Christmas holiday and will reopen on Tuesday, Dec. 27. Emergency services will be available as usual.

City Council: A number of City Council meetings over the coming weeks are canceled. The next meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Jan. 10, 2023.

Solid waste: There will be no change in Solid Waste residential collections (garbage, recycling, yard and bulk waste). Residents are allowed to set out two extra bags of garbage on their first collection day after Christmas and New Year’s Day.

Drop-off stations and Environmental Collection Center: On Dec. 24, the four drop-off stations will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the Environmental Collection Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. These locations will be closed Dec. 25-26 and reopen Dec. 27.

Animal shelters: On Dec. 24, both the North Animal Campus and the Chuck & Brenda Silcox Animal Care & Adoption Center will be open for adoptions from noon to 6 p.m. and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for intakes. These campuses will be closed to the public Dec. 25-26. Normal operations resume Dec. 27.

On Dec. 24, both Hulen and Alliance PetSmart Adoption Centers will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. These adoption centers will be closed on Christmas Day and will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 26.

Libraries: All Fort Worth Library locations will be closed Dec. 24-26.

Parks and recreational amenities: Dec. 24-26, all community centers, the Haws Athletic Center, FW@6 and Log Cabin Village are closed. Golf courses close at 3 p.m. Dec. 24 and are closed Dec. 25-26. The Fort Worth Botanic Garden is closed Dec. 25-26. The Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge is open Dec. 24 and Dec. 26 only.

Water utility: To access the Water Department’s automated system for payments and account inquiries or to report an emergency, call the 24-hour call center at 817-392-4477.
