Drainage Improvements

The Lebow Channel area from Long Avenue north to DeRidder experiences regular flooding.  This project seeks to mitigate flooding from the channel by increasing the width and depth of the channel, improving each roadway crossing and providing a detention pond at Long Avenue.  The project will be implemented in phases over multiple years.

The City has applied for State and Federal funding to help fund the projects. On December 16, 2025, the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) approved $90 million in financial assistance for the Upper Lebow Channel Flood Mitigation Project.

This project is in Council District 2.
