A Free Tool Loan Program for Fort Worth Residents!
Brought to you by the City of Fort Worth, the Fort Worth Tool Shed program is designed to help residents maintain their properties by offering free access to essential yard tools. The Mobile Tool Shed is now available city-wide to all Fort Worth residents!
What Is the 'Fort Worth Mobile Tool Shed'?
The FW Mobile Tool Shed is a City-funded initiative aimed at supporting local residents. Through this program, residents can borrow a variety of tools — absolutely free — to tackle yard work, home improvement projects and property maintenance.

These tools will be available for loan through our Fort Worth Mobile Tool Shed, a specially equipped trailer designed to bring the tools closer to you.
(Disclaimer: Tool rentals from the Fort Worth Mobile Tool Shed do not exempt properties from City mowing or related charges if they have received an overgrown grass notice within the past 12 months. Grass must be kept under 12 inches in height to avoid contractor mowing and associated fees.)

Where Can You Access the Tools?
In October 2025, the City expanded the Mobile Tool Shed program beyond pilot neighborhoods. The program is now open to ALL Fort Worth residents city-wide.
How It Works

Sign Up
Sign up online or by calling the City to reserve your tools.

Pick Up Tools
Tools are housed in a mobile trailer (the Mobile Tool Shed) and will be delivered or stationed in locations across Fort Worth for easy access.

Use and Maintain
Use the tools to maintain your property — whether it’s mowing the lawn, trimming hedges or edging the driveway. These tools are yours for the duration of your rental service.

Return Tools
Once you're done, call us to return the tools to the Mobile Tool Shed for the next neighbor to borrow!
