Fort Worth's Brownfields Program aims to decrease blight, remove environmental contamination and reinvigorate redevelopment in the community.
By definition, a brownfield is an abandoned or underused building-structure or vacant land that has real or perceived environmental contamination which prevents redevelopment. Since 1995, the Environmental Protection Agency has awarded millions of dollars to local governments to enhance local brownfields programs throughout the country. This program helps developers clean up and redevelop contaminated properties to support reuse.
Using grants and low-interest loans, the Fort Worth Brownfields Program may be able to assist clients with technical guidance and resources to offset costs for brownfields cleanup activities.
