Robot-themed books!
Mayor Mattie Parker visited the Young Women's Leadership Academy in 2023 and met students representing The Dork Side, a competitive robotics team. When she asked the students what she could do for them, they shared an idea about mentoring other youth interested in robotics. The Mayor introduced the students to the programming staff at the Library who were very impressed with the presentation and programming idea. Thanks to the funding support from community donors to the Fort Worth Public Library Foundation, robotics kits were purchased and a program was created to serve youth across the City of Fort Worth beginning in September 2024.
