Make Springtime Reading Time! 

Get to know great books with our annual Spring Reading Challenge! Sign up to earn a prize and track your minutes to earn another prize when you complete the challenge – 1000 reading minutes for adults and 500 minutes for youth. 

It's easy to get started: 

  • Sign up for the Spring Reading Challenge online with your computer or on a mobile device through the Beanstack app for iOS or Android

  • Once you’ve registered yourself and your family, the challenge is on. Stop by your local library to pick up a registration prize. 

  • Track your reading time and earn achievement badges along the way. 

  • Story times with the kids – at the Library or at home - count as reading minutes for everyone involved.

Let Your Creativity Soar!

Want even more fun? Join the Spring Bookmark Contest and create an original bookmark design that matches the theme “Unearth a Story". The contest runs from March 1 through 31 during the Spring Reading Challenge and is open to all ages. The winners' art will be featured on bookmarks available during the Summer Reading Challenge across the Fort Worth Public Library system. Winners from each age group will be notified by May 1, 2026.

All entries must be submitted by Tuesday, March 31 before 6 p.m.

Submissions

Submissions can be sent online or delivered in person to any of our library locations.

Criteria for Submission:

  • Participants under 18 years old must have parental permission to submit and release their artwork. 
  • All work must be original, created by the submitting participant.
  • All work must include an entry form.
  • Only one entry per person.
  • All artwork must be submitted on the template.
  • No profanity or vulgar language, no copywritten imagery, no nudity, and no depictions of violence or weaponry.
  • All entries must be submitted by Tuesday, March 31 before 6 p.m. Entries submitted later than this time will not be considered. Winners will be notified by May 1.

Judging

Criteria:
  • Work will be judged in four age categories: preschool, school age, teen and adult.
  • All submissions will be judged on creativity, originality, clarity and relevance to the theme. 
  • The judging panel will consist of library staff.
