Fun facts

On May 16, 1950, the park board voted to name the property “Eastover Park.” It originally contained approximately 13.5 acres and remained largely undeveloped for several years after its acquisition. With community input, City Council approved funding for walkways, lighting, picnic facilities, and a drinking fountain in 1994. Jim Bowman Construction received the contract for the improvements. Additional playground improvements were initiated in 2003 with funding from the U.S. Department of Interior Urban Park and Recreation Recovery grant funds and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Community Development Block Grant funds.
