Commercial photography (both for a fee, barter, or exchange of services) as well as portrait photography (using props, lighting, staging a photo shoot) are not allowed without a permit. Unobtrusive nature photography is permitted.

When reserving parks for photography, keep these things in mind: 

  • When in natural areas, stay on designated trails at all times.
  • Do not pick or trample wildflowers.
  • The following props are not allowed: large items such as furniture, grills, geometric risers, blocks or similar large items. No props that will interfere with other park users' experience such as fog machines or confetti.
    • In Natural Areas: No props that will flatten or crush the flowers or vegetation such as blankets.
  • Pack out what you pack in (including litter).
  • Observe and follow City Code.
  • Keep permit with you and available to show upon request by Code officer or Park official.
  • Conducting commercial photography on parkland without a permit is subject to a fine up to $500 pursuant to City Code 24-6.
  • Park hours for general reservations vary. Please check Park and Trails for the hours of individual parks.
  • Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis and subject to departmental approval.
  • Reservations are non-refundable.
  • Rescheduling: To reschedule a photo session, submit requests via email to parkreservations@fortworthtexas.gov. Rescheduling is limited to no more than twice and sessions must take place within six months of the original date.


Regulations - Chapter 24 and 36 Code:

• Do not collect or harass plants, animals or natural objects. All are protected. § 24-3, § 36-9, § 36-16, § 36-18

• Foot traffic only. No bicycles or motorized vehicles. § 24-15, § 24-18, § 36-19

• No selling services on public property without permit. § 24-6, § 36-7, § 36-8

• No commercial photography without permit. § 24-6, § 36-8

• No advertising on public property. § 24-5, § 36-6

• No horseback riding. § 24-10, § 36-11

• Leash and clean up after your dog. § 24-9, § 36-10

• Dispose of trash properly. No littering or dumping. § 24-4, § 36-4

• Discharge of firearms is prohibited. § 24-13, § 36-12

• Alcohol and drug consumption are prohibited. § 24-14, § 24-17, § 36-14

• Camping is prohibited. § 24-8, § 36-5, § 36-13

• No campfires or ground fires. § 36-17

• No fireworks. § 36-15
