Council recognizes Beck School of Construction graduates

The fourth class of graduates from the Beck School of Construction was celebrated at the City Council meeting Tuesday after completing a nine-month program.

Why it matters: The Beck School of Construction is a partnership between the City of Fort Worth and The Beck Group, an integrated architecture and construction firm. The program provides comprehensive training sessions to help business equity firms increase industry knowledge, grow expertise and become more competitive in bidding on construction projects.

“We’re incredibly proud to celebrate another year of partnership with the City of Fort Worth,” said Scot Bennett, regional director of The Beck Group's Fort Worth office. “Together, we applaud the 18 participants graduating from the nine-month-long program. They diligently attended our classes, engaged with our speakers and showed remarkable commitment. It’s an honor to help them grow their businesses now and into the future.”

Apply now. Classes start Feb. 28 and run through October 2023. Applications are due Jan. 16.

Who’s eligible

  • Businesses must be certified as a minority business enterprise by the Dallas/Fort Worth Minority Supplier Development Council or the North Central Texas Regional Certification Agency.
  • The business must have been in operation for one to 10 years and have an annual gross revenue of $100,000 or more.
  • Businesses must provide construction services or construction-related services.
  • Businesses must be located in the City’s six-county marketplace: Tarrant, Dallas, Denton, Johnson, Parker and Wise counties.
  • Applicants must submit a completed application by 5 p.m. Jan. 16, 2023.
