What’s open, what’s closed for New Year’s

Most city offices, including City Hall, will be closed Monday, Jan. 2, for the New Year’s holiday and will reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 3. Emergency services will be available as usual.

City Council: The next City Council meetings will be held on Jan. 10.

Solid waste: There will be no change in Solid Waste residential collections (garbage, recycling, yard and bulk waste). Residents are allowed to set out two extra bags of garbage on their first collection day after New Year’s Day.

On Dec. 31, the City’s four drop-off stations will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the Environmental Collection Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. These locations will be closed Jan. 1-2 and reopen Jan. 3.

Animal shelters: On Dec. 31, both the North Animal Campus and the Chuck & Brenda Silcox Animal Care & Adoption Center will be open for adoptions from noon to 6 p.m. and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for intakes. These campuses will be closed to the public Jan. 1-2 and resume normal operations Jan. 3.

On Dec. 31, both Hulen and Alliance PetSmart Adoption Centers will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. These adoption centers will be closed Jan. 1 and will be open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Jan. 2.

Libraries: All Fort Worth Library locations will be closed Dec. 31-Jan. 2.

Recreational amenities: On Dec. 31, all community centers, the Haws Athletic Center, FW@6 and Log Cabin Village are closed. Golf courses will close at 3 p.m. The Fort Worth Botanic Garden center and the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge are open regular hours. Jan. 1-2, community centers, Haws Athletic Center, FW@6 and Log Cabin Village will be closed.

Water utility: To access the Water Department’s automated system for payments and account inquiries or to report an emergency, call the 24-hour call center at 817-392-4477.

Public transit: On Jan. 1, all Trinity Metro buses will run on an hourly schedule, with two exceptions: The Dash will operate every 30 minutes and Molly the Trolley will be on its regular schedule. Customer care representatives will be available 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 817-215-8600. The kiosk at Fort Worth Central Station will be closed. On Jan. 2, there will be no Trinity Railway Express service. Route 31 TRE LINK and Route 30 CentrePort Shuttle will not operate.
