Council workshop

The City Council will convene in a special called workshop at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, in Room 2020 of City Hall, 200 Texas St.

  • Informal reports: Budget and tax notice requirements; submission of 2022 no-new-revenue and voter-approval tax rates; submission of 2022 certified appraisal roll and certified collection rate.
  • Presentations: Recommended FY2023 operating and capital budgets; overview of plans to educate and engage the public in the budget process.

City Council meeting

The City Council will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, in the Council Chamber on the second floor of City Hall, 200 Texas St.

  • Members will vote on authorizing an artwork commission contract with Steven Parker for up to $137,299 for artwork at North Park, 900 N. Beach St.
  • The Council will vote on an agreement with Camp Bowie District Inc. to manage the City’s vertical street banner program in Public Improvement District No. 19.
  • Members will vote on approving David Medrano as city auditor; Leonard Firestone and Alan Blaylock as alternate members and official voting representatives to the Regional Transportation Council; and members of the Animal Shelter Advisory Board and Historical and Cultural Landmarks Commission.
  • There are 15 zoning cases on the agenda. One of those cases would allow rezoning a 300-plus-acre tract east of I-35W and Basswood Boulevard for multiple purposes, including a proposed soccer complex.
