This capital improvement program addresses needed street improvements by facilitating redevelopment and revitalization in identified areas of the Near Southside District.

Currently, TPW is proceeding with construction for Round Five of improvements.  Round Six of proposed improvements is currently in design with plans to begin construction in 2025.

Improvements for Round Five include replacing existing water and sewer lines in the identified streets, as well as rehabilitation of select portions of streets throughout Near Southside.  Streets with proposed improvements for Round 5 include:

• Peter Smith St from S Ballinger St to S Henderson St
• W Peter Smith St from S Jennings Ave to Galveston Ave
• Galveston Ave from W Broadway Ave to W Peter Smith St
• W Morphy St from Jennings Ave to St. Louis Ave
• W Tucker St from Lipscomb St to Hemphill St
• 6^th Ave from Terrell Ave to Rosedale St
• W Pulaski St from St. Louis Ave to Oak Grove St
• May St from W Peter Smith St to W Broadway Ave
• Galveston Ave from Rosedale St to 150’ North of Pulaski St
• S Lake St from Magnolia Ave to Rosedale St
• Alley E of S Henderson from Pennsylvania to Peter Smith
• Travis Ave from Ingram St to Morphy St
• W Morphy St from Alston Ave to Hemphill St

All street segments for Round Five of this capital improvement program are located in Council District 9
