Panther Island Canal Bridges Phase 1

The project includes building two new bridges over the future Panther Island Canal C and improve the connecting roadways leading to and from the bridges within the project limits.

One bridge will be on North Commerce Street and the other on Calhoun Street, between NE 4th and NE 5th Streets. 

This project also includes storm water improvements within the project limits.

The project supports the overall vision of the Panther Island Vision 2.0.

This project is in Council District 2.

October 2026 Project Status

• The project is currently in final design plans.
• Bridge construction will commence once Trinity River Water District completes the Canal C construction. Canal C is scheduled for completion in the beginning of 2028.
