General status update for the month of November:

West 7th Street Construction Update

Due to heavier than expected vehicular, pedestrian, and train night traffic the paving operations are taking longer than originally scheduled.  The contractor will complete the paving operations on Tuesday, November 8th.  Following the completion of the paving, the contractor will begin installing lane striping and intersection markings. Median irrigation is currently being completed and landscaping will follow.  The new traffic signals located at the intersections of Woolery Street and Norwood Street will begin flashing on Thursday, November 10th and are scheduled to be operational on Tuesday, November 15th.  Please be advised to seek alternate routes on Lancaster Avenue and White Settlement Road to avoid delays due to the construction activities.

West 7th Street:

  • Contractor: Reyes Group.
  • Construction started late May 2021.
  • Anticipate temporary bike lane, driveway, and sidewalk closures. Pedestrians and bicyclists should follow posted detour signs.
  • The traffic signal located at West 7th Street and Carroll Street will be temporarily deactivated Monday night on October 10th  between 9pm and 3am for the necessary replacement of the traffic signal cabinet. Temporary stop signs will be installed at the intersection during these hours.
  • Median construction between Carroll Street and University Drive. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction from University Drive to Carroll Street to allow for worker safety during construction of the center median on W. 7th Street over next four weeks.  Expect lane reductions on University Drive and Camp Bowie at the Six Points intersection.

  • Construction within the railroad right of way is scheduled to begin in September. Expect one lane of traffic in each direction.

  • Estimated construction completion: End of Mid-November 2022.
  • Estimated construction within railroad right of way completion:  Mid-November 2022.
  • Approximately 70% complete.

Museum Way:

  • Traffic signals have been installed and are operational.
  • Both lanes of roadway have been completed and are open.
  • Construction completed in November 2021.
