West 7th Street Cast Iron Water Main Replacement

A deteriorated cast-iron water main that dates as far back as 1955 will be replaced in West 7^th Street. The limits on West 7^th Street are from Carroll Street westward to just east of University Drive.

This improvement project is at the corner of Montgomery Plaza – a business area which includes restaurants and shopping.

This Fort Worth Water Capital Project Delivery project is in Fort Worth Council District 9. Construction will impact the West 7^th Neighborhood Alliance and the Linwood Neighborhood Association.

A community meeting to provide the new construction timeline and other traffic-related information is scheduled for Wednesday, February 25, 2026. See below for the meeting details. In addition, the Transportation Public Works Department will discuss the planned modification to the bike lanes along West 7th Street.

City Hall Council Work Session Room, 100 Fort Worth Trail

This meeting is on the Terrace (lower) Level of the Council Chamber Annex after City Hall’s regular business hours. Entry to the building is only available on the Terrace Level at the rear of the building. Parking is available in the west (rear) surface parking lot of City Hall. The parking lot can be accessed from Forest Park Boulevard or 5th Street.

Construction may start as soon as March 2, 2026.

Project Meeting

A pre-construction meeting was held in September 2025, but construction was delayed while the line was re-designed to be in a location along the north curb.

Another community meeting is set for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 in the City Council Work Session Room, 100 Fort Worth Trail. This meeting is on the Terrace (lower) Level of the Council Chamber Annex after City Hall’s regular business hours. Entry to the building is only available on the Terrace Level at the rear of the building. Parking is available in the west (rear) surface parking lot of City Hall. The parking lot can be accessed from Forest Park Boulevard or 5th Street.

Transportation/Public Works and Park departments will present the modifications that will occur to the bike lane medians along West 7th Street.
