Mobile Tool Shed program expands to serve entire city

The City of Fort Worth is excited to announce the expansion of the Fort Worth Mobile Tool Shed program, making free tool loans available to all residents across the city. What began as a pilot program in three neighborhoods has now been approved by City Council to operate citywide, giving every Fort Worth household access to essential property maintenance tools at no cost.
“I am very excited for the city-wide expansion of our Mobile Tool Shed,” said Code Compliance Director Brian Daugherty. “Our citizens now have access to the resources to fix their code violations or beautify their home with just a few clicks.”
The Mobile Tool Shed provides residents with an easy way to borrow lawn mowers, weed eaters, edgers, power washers and other yard tools. And, by removing the financial and transportation barriers that often prevent property upkeep, the program helps promote more vibrant neighborhoods.
“Keeping Fort Worth beautiful starts at home,” added Daugherty. “By giving residents free access to tools, we’re not only helping people maintain their yards, we’re also investing in the health and safety of our neighborhoods.”
The process to check out tools remains the same. Residents can sign up online or by calling 817-392-1234 to schedule a delivery. Tools are dropped off at homes on Fridays and picked up the following Monday, giving residents the entire weekend to complete projects. Tools are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and early reservations are encouraged.
The Fort Worth Mobile Tool Shed is funded by the City of Fort Worth with support from community partners such as Home Depot, Lowe’s, Walmart, and other local organizations.
