The seventh annual Tri My Best Triathlon hosted by Cook Children’s Rehabilitation Services and the Fort Worth Fire Department will take place at the Bob Bolen Public Safety Complex, 505 W. Felix St., on Saturday, July 9. Forty-five children ranging in age from 3-18 will participate from 8 a.m. to noon.

The triathlon gives participants with various physical and cognitive disabilities the chance to bike, swim and run/walk/wheel through the course alongside a buddy assigned as an assistant.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the triathlon was held virtually for the past two years. This year’s in-person event will also include a safety fair hosted by FWFD and The Y Water Safety Team.

Participants are organized by endurance and assistance needs. Groups rotate through the bike, swim and run/wheel/walk events, with an award ceremony at the conclusion. Buddies are assigned to all participants to assist and cheer them on. There are family observation areas at each event site.
