Acentra Health will be replacing Resources for Living as the City of Fort Worth Employee's Employee Assistance Program Provider starting January 1, 2026. Your Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a complimentary service available to you through your employer. The EAP provides counseling sessions at no cost to you, as well as offering a wide variety of services to enhance overall well-being and support healthy work-life balance. The program is completely confidential and available to you and your household members 24/7.

The City of Fort Worth has partnered with Carter BloodCare to provide onsite blood drives. All full-time City of Fort Worth employees who donate blood will receive an hour of vacation time (up to six hours per calendar year). Part-time employees who donate blood will receive an hour of comp time (up to six hours per calendar year). You can also earn points for the Healthy Challenge Payout. So roll up your sleeves and visit the bloodmobile at one of our scheduled drives!

Registration links for the blood drives are made available through the City's Roundup newsletter at the start of every blood drive month and also one to two weeks before the date of the blood drive for that month. You must provide some type of identification (e.g., your City ID or driver’s license) when arriving for your scheduled donation time.

Meet Double Reds

Unlike a traditional whole blood donation, Automated Red Cell Collection (2RBC) allows the donor to safely give two units of red blood cells instead of just one — thus, the nickname “Double Reds.” The process separates blood into its components while it is being drawn. Because only red blood cells are being collected, enough can be collected for two red-cell transfusions and the remaining components are returned to the donor. The collection procedure takes just 20 minutes longer than a whole blood donation and can be performed every four months. 

2RBC Donor Requirements
2RBC donors must meet certain height and weight requirements, as well as routine donor criteria:

• Males must weigh at least 150 lbs. and be 5'5" or taller.

• Females must weigh at least 130 lbs. and be 5'1" or taller.

Fitness and lifestyle classes are offered by the Healthy Challenge Wellness Program to all employees, retirees and spouses at no cost. Participation will also earn points toward the Healthy Challenge Cash Payout. Availability of the Healthy Habits classes may vary. Fitness classes

Fit Camp

This 45-minute boot camp is designed for all ages and fitness levels, focusing on maximum calorie burn in a short amount of time. A combination of strength training, cardio, muscle endurance, flexibility, functional movement patterns and teamwork will help participants looking to burn fat, tighten the body, improve strength and build muscle. This class emphasizes getting fit and healthy while challenging the mind and body in ways that make fitness fun. Fit Camp is perfect for those who are looking to burn fat, tighten up their bodies, improve strength and build muscle. Through a combination of strength training, cardio, muscle endurance, flexibility, functional movement patterns & team work, we are able to achieve these goals together!   

Total Body Blast 

This heart-pumping, total-body workout is designed to challenge every aspect of your fitness. Using calisthenics, hand weights, sprints, and stair climbing, take your fitness to the next level and discover how strong you really are. All fitness levels welcome and modifications provided by the instructor. 

Yoga 

A class for all abilities and interests, the emphasis here is to increase awareness of wellness mechanics through various physical postures integrated with breathing and relaxation techniques. The class includes a warm-up, breath work, posture (active and passive), and balancing and relaxation elements. There is no perfect way to work through this practice; each participant is encouraged to bring an “as you are” awareness and an attitude toward self-improvement. 

Zumba

Zumba is a dance aerobics class that fuses hypnotic musical rhythms and tantalizing moves to create a dynamic workout designed to be fun and easy to do. The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. 

Blue Zones Project is a community-wide well-being improvement initiative to help make healthy choices easier for everyone in Fort Worth. Blue Zones Project encourages changes in the community that lead to healthier options, from worksites and schools to restaurants and grocery stores. These small changes contribute to huge benefits for the entire community, including lowered healthcare costs, improved productivity, and ultimately, a higher quality of life.

The City of Fort Worth currently has over 150 Blue Zones Approved Work Sites, the most Blue Zones Approved Work Sites in the nation!
