Healthy Challenge Insurance Premium Incentive

The City of Fort Worth's Healthy Challenge employee wellness program is facilitated by Ramp Health. The platform is used to complete the three (3) wellness requirements, listed below, and provides an interactive platform to actively engage in your total wellness. In addition to the platform, a Ramp Health Coach is present on site to provide individual health coaching, group stretch sessions, wellness focused educational opportunities, and more!

To qualify, employees and their spouses, if the spouse is listed as a dependent on a city sponsored health plan, must complete the following three (3) requirements on their individual accounts by the August 31st deadline. Employees and spouses will need separate accounts.

The three (3) requirements are:

  1. Health Risk Assessment questionnaire (HRA)
  2. Tobacco Use (2 step process):
    • If you are not a tobacco user, you will be prompted to acknowledge the tobacco-free attestation.
    • If you are a tobacco user, complete the designated tobacco cessation activity to earn credit.
  3. Biometric Screening Form (BSF) completed by your physician and submitted to your personal Ramp Health portal for approval by the Ramp Health team. Must be approved by Ramp Health to receive credit.

Healthy Challenge Cash Payout

The Healthy Challenge cash or wellness leave payout is based on a point system and is available to all employees regardless of their health plan coverage. While employees are eligible for the cash or wellness leave payout, retirees and spouses are not. Employees earn points throughout the year for completing certain program activities and can redeem these points for a cash reward or wellness leave. The deadline to earn points for the Healthy Challenge cash or wellness leave payout is December 15th of every year, with the payout distributed on the second paycheck in January of the following year.

Points Cash Payout Wellness Leave Option
 2,500 $150 5 Hours
3,000 $200 10 Hours
3,500 $250 16 Hours

To qualify for the Healthy Challenge cash payout or wellness leave, employees must complete the requirements below on their Ramp Health accounts by the corresponding deadlines:

  1. August 31st deadline: Health Risk Assessment (HRA), Tobacco Use Attestation or Cessation Activity (TOB), and submit the Biometric Screening Form (BSF) for approval. If BSF is denied after the deadline, this requirement is considered incomplete.
  2.  December 15th deadline: Self-reporting ONE Preventive Exam on your My Care Checklist on Ramp Health and earn a minimum of 2,500 points.

Blood Drives

The City of Fort Worth has partnered with Carter BloodCare to provide onsite blood drives. Full-time City of Fort Worth employees who donate blood can receive an hour of vacation time (up to six hours per calendar year) and part-time employees can receive an hour of comp time (up to six hours per calendar year).

All donations made outside of a city-sponsored blood drive will require submission of blood donor card with employee ID to HealthAdvocacy@FortWorthTexas.gov

Those who donate can also earn points for the Healthy Challenge cash payout or wellness leave. So, roll up your sleeves and visit the bloodmobile at one of our scheduled drives!

Registration links for the blood drives are made available through the City's Roundup newsletter at the start of every blood drive month. You must provide identification (e.g., your City ID or driver’s license) when arriving at your scheduled donation time.

What does Double Reds (2RBC) mean?

Unlike a traditional whole blood donation, Automated Red Cell Collection (2RBC) allows the donor to safely give two units of red blood cells instead of just one — thus, the nickname “Double Reds.” The process separates blood into its components while it is being drawn. Because only red blood cells are being collected, enough can be collected for two red-cell transfusions and the remaining components are returned to the donor. The collection procedure takes just 20 minutes longer than a whole blood donation and can be performed every four months.

  • 2RBC Donor Requirements
    • 2RBC donors must meet certain height and weight requirements, as well as routine donor criteria:
      • Males must weigh at least 150 lbs. and be 5'5" or taller.
      • Females must weigh at least 130 lbs. and be 5'1" or taller.

Employee Community Center Fitness Memberships

The City’s community centers are divided into three membership tiers (Gold, Silver and Bronze) based on the size of the fitness room and the number of pieces of equipment. Employee memberships must be purchased at your local community center (bring your City ID). Membership includes the price of an annual community center membership. Employee family members can also obtain membership at the standard rate. Please contact your preferred Community Center for more information.
